The original Wild Rivers Coast Farm Trail project grew out of the Travel Oregon Rural Tourism Studio program.  It was a cooperative promotional effort, from 2015 to 2017, by nine participating farms and markets.  The effort was led by the Eat Fresh and Local Action Team with support from the Bandon Chamber of Commerce and Wild Rivers Coast Alliance.

With additional support from the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, it has now grown into the Wild Rivers Coast Food Trail to represent more local businesses that produce, source or cook local foods on the south coast. The 2018 Food Trail has 40 participating businesses that fall under six different categories; Farms, Farm to Table, Seafood, Markets, Artisan Products and Craft Brews & Spirits.
